And now we finally land in Group Treasury; a monster data aggregator which sources funds for the bank (both short and long).
The profile of the banks ‘banking book’ changes during the course of each business day as
- new business arrives,
- new positions are undertaken,
- existing positions are altered and
- some positions are retired.
These have represented – quite imaginatively – as individual computers located in the root of the Treasury Tree. The core functions of Treasury then take place to manage the risks on the banking book.
As for The Next Episode of our Banking a Deal series, i am still in the process of identifying another function that sits squarely with this series. There are of course quite a few options here – BO, Risk and Compliance etc – but we’ll park this series for a bit to work on a monster interview tentatively titled “Tales from the Front Office” based on a chat i had with a good friend last week.
As always, comments are welcome.
